Industrialized Farming

Due to advances in farming technologies, and pesticides. We are able to get a large variety of foods all year around. Especially foods that can not grow in the north, like oranges. Most of the time the food is shipped from distant places, and because of that farmers apply pesticides and chemicals to the food to make them last through the trip. But there are advantages too. For instance, less people can farm and harvest a larger area of land due to advances in farming equipment. I recently saw an episode of How It's Made on the Discovery channel. It showed how egg's that we eat are made. First they get the egg's form a chicken and then the egg is put into a series of machines. Because of this technology we can have eggs every day. But if we did not have the technology to produce large quantity's of eggs then we would have to have a chicken or two at home to get eggs. The same gos for other products, such as bred, jam's and jelly's. Without the technology people would have very little of those goods.
