Too young to be a dad

Being a teen dad would be superbad, but the pressure to have sex is great too. i see commercials and televising shows showing cool people doing awesome things, and it makes me want to be like that. but sometimes that means sex. I don't want to be a teen dad so i have to use my street smarts and not get in to that type of stuff wit girls.

Tobacco

I think tobacco should not be legalized, because of the high health risks. theantidrug.com talks about how tobacco is the main ingredient in cigarettes. It is highly addictive and have long term hazards. The smoke is also bad for people around the smoker. this means your friends get sick and they dont even smoke.

Decision Making

Other than the GREAT model, there is the scientific method. Which consists of a series of steps mostly used in examining a science experiment. but it can be adapted to fit every day life. It starts out by analyzing all the available options, or solutions. Then thinking through a possible outcome, that could happen because you made that choice. Based on what you find, making the right choice is allot easier than just flying by the seat of your pants. And mostly you will be satisfied with your decision.

Industrialized Farming

Due to advances in farming technologies, and pesticides. We are able to get a large variety of foods all year around. Especially foods that can not grow in the north, like oranges. Most of the time the food is shipped from distant places, and because of that farmers apply pesticides and chemicals to the food to make them last through the trip. But there are advantages too. For instance, less people can farm and harvest a larger area of land due to advances in farming equipment. I recently saw an episode of How It's Made on the Discovery channel. It showed how egg's that we eat are made. First they get the egg's form a chicken and then the egg is put into a series of machines. Because of this technology we can have eggs every day. But if we did not have the technology to produce large quantity's of eggs then we would have to have a chicken or two at home to get eggs. The same gos for other products, such as bred, jam's and jelly's. Without the technology people would have very little of those goods.

Soy Good or Bad?

From what i have red online soy is only healthy for you in small amounts. But according to many sources, soy increases the levels of estrogen in the human body. Researches have found that, due to the manufacturing, soy products contain abnormally high amounts of aluminum. Dr. Mercola has a short video online, that describes allot about soy and its problems. In the video he mentions that research done on infants that drink soy formula have extremely high levels of estrogen in their body's. Also Dr. Mercola talks about soy impairing thyroid function, and your body's ability to break down protean. So over all i think soy should not be such a widely used ingredient in food. Here is the URL for the video. http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/index.htm

Conflict Resolution

This weekend i saw on TV a PSA of sorts, that demonstrated a way of getting someone that is being bullied, away from the bully. The video showed a group of young kids and one being bullied, and other kids watching. The narrator of the video proceeded to say things about how bullying is bad. then offered a solution to get the victim away from the bully. He sed walk up to the kid, and start to walk away from the area talking to him. this is to shut down the bully and i think also to back up the victim. This method i think would work best when there is one bully and not a group of bullies. And the more people that approach and help the victim leave the better, because i do not think the bully will continue to bully when his target has more people on his side. From the prespective of the suporters, whom ever you help in a way owes you something in return. Im not talking about money or something big, but possibly support for when you are being bullied. Too all you bullies out there just know there are people that will be there to back up your victom. So avoied the situation and just stop bullying all together. And you probly have a lot in common with the victom, so be nice.

Effects of Radiation on the Human Body

The human body does not handle extreme ammounts of radiation verry well. You can be exposed to radiation in verious amounts. Everyone is exposed to radiation in some way every day. Eather in the form of sun light, or even nuclear radiation. Prolonged exposer to any type of radiation has some effect on the human body. In the form of light radiation your skin most commenly will just get burned, or worse you can get skin cancer. But if you are exposed to nuclear radiation the effects are more worse. First your hair will start to fall out in patches. this is because the cells in your skin repoduce more quickley than others. And just like in cancer treatment the cells die. Since brain cells do not reproduce, they won't be damaged directly unless the exposure is 5,000 rems or greater. Like the heart, radiation kills nerve cells and small blood vessels, and can cause seizures and immediate death. When a person is exposed to around 100 rems, the blood's lymphocyte cell count will be reduced, leaving the victim more susceptible to infection. This is often refered to as mild radiation sickness. Early symptoms of radiation sickness mimic those of flu and may go unnoticed unless a blood count is done.According to data from Hiroshima and Nagaski, show that symptoms may persist for up to 10 years and may also have an increased long-term risk for leukemia and lymphoma. Radiation damage to the intestinal tract lining will cause nausea, bloody vomiting and diarrhea. This is occurs when the victim's exposure is 200 rems or more. The radiation will begin to destroy the cells in the body that divide rapidly. These including blood, GI tract, reproductive and hair cells, and harms their DNA and RNA of surviving cells. Overall radiation is not good for the human body. In very small ammounts you can live, but if you are exposed to great ammounts you will most likley die.
